Coming to Horizon Worlds
“Fox Bandit’s Den” in VR
I am in the process of building my den where those who have access to the Horizon Worlds (whether it be via the Desktop or the Oculus Quest devices) can visit virtually in person :] I am super excited for this world and can’t wait to have people experience it. It’ll be featuring many of my current ongoing projects (like the ones mentioned in this website) as well as some projects in VR by other creators such as Clever Brew Crew (aka CBC).
The first asset- a peacock feather. Have you heard of the story of Argos? In Greek Mythology Hera (Queen of the gods) had a spy with a hundred eyes. He would report to her whenever Zeus was being unfaithful, and one day he let her know about an affair he was having with one of her own priestesses-Io. As punishment to the betrayal, Hera transformed Io into a cow and in revenge Zeus killed her faithful spy Argos. To reward Argos's loyalty to the end and honor him, Hera took his hundred eyes and placed them on the tail of a peacock. That is a short summary of greek mythology's explaination for the how the tail of a male peacock came to to appear as it does, and I have always enjoyed mythology and had a fondess for peacocks. I think they are a beautiful bird and have a fascination with their feathers, and this particular story inspired a project idea. My goal is to create a hundred images of peacock feathers to spread in the world (so far one to be displayed in Fox Bandit's Den in Horizon Worlds, and two physical paintings I plan on giving to other locations.) The collection will be called the Eyes of Argos, to try to build a feeling of connection between those who become familiar with this project. That way if you happen to walk into a shop and see one of these paintings, you can think of the other 99 somewhere with the world and hopefully feel a connections with those who are viewing the other peacock feathers. Once this world is published and viewable, I plan on making this particular asset free. That way anyone who visits can take a copy of this feather as a souvenior for themselves, and hopefully remember the story behind it whenever they see it.
